Description

Saccharodite costa Zelazny, sp. nov.

(Fig. 301)

Description. Forewing length in male 2.9–3.2 mm (mean = 3.0, n = 4). Frons and base of clypeus with very few, tiny red marks. Male genitalia with genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process broad; distal dorsal process long. Apical part of male aedeagus short, divided by a dorsal, longitudinal groove; the right side bearing two pointed processes directed forward, one located at the middle, the other at the tip; left side with a short, slightly elevated, transverse ridge near the middle.

Note. Very similar to Saccharodite plurima sp. nov. The above description has been shortened, due to this similarity.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin noun (costa = a rip) used in apposition.

Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 3.0 mm), no labels, among Borneo material (BPBM). Paratypes. 4 ♂ (fw. 2x 2.9, 3.2), without labels, among Borneo material (BPBM).

Distribution. Borneo (?). The holo- and paratypes had been kept in an unmarked genital capsule among material from Borneo.

Diagnosis. Saccharodite costa is very similar externally to Sa. tricuspis sp. nov., Sa. virgata Zelazny, Sa. viperina sp. nov. and Sa. terebra Zelazny, all also occurring in Borneo. It can be recognized by the apical portion of the male aedeagus, which bears 2 pointed processes on the right side, and a short, elevated transverse ridge on the left side.
