Authors/Creators

Description

Laparocerus lepidopterus Wollaston, 1864

Laparocerus lepidopterus Wollaston 1864, p 352.

Type locality. El Golfo, El Hierro, Canary Islands.

Lectotype: 1♀ (violet line-card5El Hierro) [El Golfo], leg. Wollaston [Type]. NHM, London. Paralectotypes: 1♀ damaged (white card5Tenerife) [Agua García], leg. Wollaston. NHM, London. 1♀, both antennae and some tarsi missing (green cardline5La Palma), leg. Wollaston [Hope Entomological/Collections/Wollaston Coll.] [Laparocerus / lepidopterus Woll.]. UMO, Oxford.

Remarks. Wollaston did not provide a name when he separated the Gran Canaria specimen as ‘‘Var. ss [an species?]’’, with its own diagnosis, even so it cannot be considered as syntype of L. lepidopterus. Independently, Marseul (1872, p 535) proposed for L. lepidopterus Wollaston, 1864, the unjustified replacement name Laparocerus bellopterus.
