An Austrian Ukrainian studies have a long history and important  achievement. Academic studies of the Ukrainian history in this case was patched by the Austrian historian Johann Christian von Jenel who published in the late of XVIII century the "History of Galicia and Volodymyria until 1772 r." ("Geschichte von Halitsch und Wladimir bis 1772", 2 Bände, Wien, 1792/93); 2014 p.). Due to the old connections and entering the western Ukrainian lands to the warehouse of the monarchy of the Habsburgs (end of the 18th century - 1918 r.) an Austrian Ukrainian studies is very different from other Western European studies. In 2017 p. in Munich, a new professor of the European History, an active member of the Academy of Sciences of Austria and an foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Andreas Kappeler were published his new work “Ungleiche Brüder. Russen und Ukrainer vom Mittelalter bis zur Gegenwart ", which was also translated in Ukrainian in 2018 by Volodymyr Kamyanets. Nowadays A. Kappeler is well-known in Ukraine - in the Ukrainian translation were published his books "Russia as a  Multi-Ethnic Empire" (Lviv, 2005), "Small History of Ukraine" (Kiev, 2007) and "Ukraine. Processes of the national creation”(Kiev, 2011).
