Figure 1 - Map showing the biogeographic realms used to record the distribution of each valid genus and subgenus of Tenebrionidae (see Table 2). Blue (dark): Palaearctic; blue (pale): Australasia; green: Neotropic; orange: Afrotropic; red: Nearctic; yellow: Indo-Malay (see Olson et al. (2001: fig. 1) for the boundaries of the Oceania biogeographic realm). Figures 2–5 show closeup maps of boundary areas. The Antarctic realm is excluded since none of the valid Tenebrionidae genera and subgenera are distributed therein.
