Description

Marchesinia brachiata (Sw.) Schiffn.

Chiriqui: Loc. 33, epiphytic on bark of coffee shrub, c. per., 34714. * Coclé: Loc. 9, on rock, c. per., 34750.

Widespread Afro-American species, incl. Hawaii (Gradstein 2012), previous reports from Panama (including M. bongardiana (Lehm. & Lindenb.) Trevis. and M. languida (Nees & Mont.) Steph.) are from the Canal Zone, Chiriqui, Los Santos and Panamá provinces. Heinrichs et al. (2009) provided a phylogenetic study of Marchesinia.
