What's New in v0.3

This major update introduces enhanced mechanism tracking, new shear and instability checks, and refined workflows for boundary-zone handling.

Key Updates & Enhancements:

  • Governing Mechanism Selection: Improved the failure-route comparison so that flexure, flexure-shear, sliding shear, bar buckling, and lateral instability are now actively evaluated and compared as competing route limits.
  • Boundary-Zone Workflow: Added explicit handling and logic for analyzing walls both with and without defined boundary zones.
  • Plastic Hinge Routing: Introduced a route check to determine whether the member should utilize the distributed-cracking plastic hinge expression or default to a single-crack plastic-hinge path utilizing the Lp = (1+ksp)Lsp fallback (derived from NZ assessment guidelines).
  • Sliding Shear Checks: Added a dedicated sliding shear / shear-friction check based on the NZS3101 approach, utilizing explicit phiSliding and muSliding inputs.
  • Bar-Buckling Workflow: Simplified the active public-release path by exclusively adopting the Alvarado-style wall bar-buckling method. The legacy Moyer-Kowalsky check has been removed from the active code path to streamline and optimize the workflow specifically for wall kinematics.
  • Lateral-Instability Implementation: Enhanced the lateral-instability check for walls with improved boundary/no-boundary handling, refined critical length inputs, and better displacement conversion and output.
  • Robustness & Output Diagnostics: Implemented minor fixes and optimizations regarding concrete layer areas, ecdam string handling, no-boundary concrete plotting/output, and clearer route diagnostics for the user.
  • Documentation: The user manual and public examples have been fully updated to reflect the v0.3 workflow and provide clearer visibility into active failure mechanisms.
