Microperus calamoides Smith & Beaver & Cognato 2018, comb. n.

Description

Microperus calamoides (Murayama) comb. n.

Xyleborus calamoides Murayama, 1934: 291.

Amasa calamoides (Murayama): Wood & Bright, 1992: 682.

Taxonomy: Syntypes of Xyleborus calamoides (NMNH) were examined by SMS. The specimens have an obliquely truncate declivity which is generally associated with Amasa. However, multiple Asian xyleborine genera have at least one species with a truncate declivity. The species is transferred to Microperus Wood, 1980 because of the following characters: pronotum type 2 (viewed dorsally), antennal club type 3, scutellum not visible and lack of mycangial tufts.
