The Economic Impact of International Tourists on the TRNC Economy

This study set out to investigate the economic impact of the expenditure of international (non- turkish) tourists on the economy of North Cyprus. Using the input-output analytic process developed at the Michigan State University data spending data was retrieved from 460 respondents who made up the sample group. Findings as observable from the analysis and findings section revealed that 700,891 TL in additional direct sales were generated from international tourist expenditure, with every lira of international tourist spending generating 0.40kurus in additional direct income, especially to the primary tourism industry of the North Cyprus economy. The total additional sales generated also led to the direct creation of 19 additional jobs in the primary tourism industry.
