Description
The Intergovernmental science-policy Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is comprised of 137 member States. They collaborate to improve the knowledge foundations for better-informed policy and action on biodiversity at all levels. IPBES produces expert assessments of the best-available global scientific knowledge, with the consideration of other knowledge systems, such as those of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. IPBES also assists decision-makers through capacity-building, policy support, and knowledge and data activities. Stakeholders engage with IPBES as contributors and/or end-users of the platform’s products to increase their relevance and usefulness.
This dynamic dashboard aimed to present the outcomes of a survey of IPBES stakeholders that was conducted in May-June 2020. The aim of this survey was to better understand stakeholder engagement with IPBES, to improve implementation of the IPBES stakeholder engagement strategy (decision [IPBES-3/4](https://ipbes.net/document-library-catalogue/ipbes34) and [IPBES/3/18](https://ipbes.net/document-library-catalogue/ipbes318)), and to further increase the inclusivity and effectiveness of the IPBES work programme. Results will help to better align communication and outreach, and to strengthen collaborative processes within the IPBES work programme. More information on the stakeholder engagement strategy can be found in IPBES-8/INF/16 (https://ipbes.net/sites/default/files/2021-05/ipbes_8_inf_16_stakeholder_engagement_strategy.pdf).
The dashboard was developed using python libraries and Dash framework https://dash.plotly.com/. The code used to produce the dashboard and pictures of the completed dashboard are included within this repository. The github repository for this project can be found here: https://github.com/ellentatia/SHSurvey_2020- which can be used to re-create the dashboard.
