Type locality and specimens. Fundnotiz [locality note]: Das einzige Exemplar wurde bei Stat. 112, Karrakatta in der Nähe von Perth erbeutet [The only specimen was collected at Station 112, Karrakatta near Perth].
Dimensions. Das einzige erbeutete Exemplar dieser neuen Art ist nur 38 mm lang bei einer Dicke von fast 3 mm. [The only collected specimen of this new species shows a length of 38 mm and a width of nearly 3 mm].
Type material. Holotype (ZMH-A0000598). AUSTRALIA: Western Australia, Karrakatta (station 112) [ca. 31°57’S, 115°48’E].
Preservation. 1 jar: Label 1. Hamb.S.W.Austral.Exp. 1905 112 Karrakatta 28. V. (imprint); Label 2. Colobopleurus inopinatus Krpln Typus Karrakatta bei Perth Coll. Michaelsen VI.08 (Kraepelin handwriting); Label 3. Colobopleurus inopinatus Kraepelin Typus (imprint: Zoologisches Museum Hamburg).
Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960), p. 65, No. 10. Holotype.
Collection remarks. The specimen was collected by Wilhelm Michaelsen during his expedition to Western Australia 1905.
Current systematic position. Cormocephalus inopinatus (Kraepelin, 1908); transferred by Attems (1930: 109) as Cormocephalus (Colobopleurus) inopiatus.
