Nemorea sponsa Rondani, 1865
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1865c: 199.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Dania [Denmark]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, 1 ♀, syntypes (missing right fore- and mid-legs) (MZUF: Box 11): Nemorea Desv. / sponsa Rnd., Dania / 517.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Nemoraea pellucida (Meigen, 1824) (Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 283).
REMARKS: Rondani (1865c: 199) described both sexes of Nemorea sponsa from two specimens of each sex: “ specimena duo …. captae a Clar. Staeger [two specimens collected by Mr. Staeger]”. We found both syntypes. This nominal species was described under the generic name “ Nemorea ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Nemoraea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 or subsequent usage of Nemorea Macquart, 1834 ” (O’Hara et al. 2011: 126).
