REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 213) described both sexes of Hilarella italica without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. Pape (1988: 9) designated a lectotype (♂) and a paralectotype (♂) but did not mention an additional female in the MZUF and a male in the MSNC (both of these additional specimens are paralectotypes). Hilarella stictica (Meigen, 1830) sensu Pape (1996) is currently considered a as Taxigramma stictica (Meigen, 1830) (Krčmar et al. 2019), which we follow here.
