Description

Sloanea verrucosa Ducke (1935: 165)

[= Sloanea schomburgkii Spruce ex Bentham (1861: 66)] (Elaeocarpaceae).

Lectotype (designated here): —BRAZIL. Amazonas: Manaus, estrada do Aleixo, 19 December 1929, A. Ducke HJBR 25114 (RB 2 sheets). Syntype: A. Ducke HJBR 25113 (RB, US).

Smith (1954: 86) indicated as “Type collection” the specimen A . Ducke HJBR 25113. However, as he attests, materials collected on different dates were put together on the same sheet and thus are not suitable as lectotypes (Art. 8.2 of the ICNB, McNeill et al. 2006 ). This way, we have chosen as lectotype the other material cited by Ducke in the protologue.
