Foucault y Lacan: la libertad como práctica ético-política

Resumen: En este trabajo trazo un acercamiento y una problemática definida en común, entre Lacan y Foucault, respecto al tratamiento dispensado a la libertad. Si bien ambos autores pueden ser identificados como estructuralistas, y de ahí el lugar común de suponer un determinismo que no dejaría lugar a la decisión del sujeto, planteo que el problema desde una perspectiva materialista es más complejo de lo que parece y exige entender cómo ambos autores trabajaban la constitución del sujeto en el seno de determinaciones que lo exceden pero no lo anulan en absoluto. Definir el deseo en sentido spinoziano es clave para ello.

Abstract: In this article I outline a common approach and problem defined between Lacan and Foucault, regarding the treatment given to freedom. While both authors can be identified as structuralists, and hence the commonality of supposing a determinism that would leave no room for the subject’s decision, I propose that the problem from a materialist perspective is more complex than it seems and requires understanding how both authors worked the constitution of the subject within determinations that exceed it but do not nullify it at all. Defining desire in the Spinozian sense is key to this.
