Library of Academician Ivan Konstantinovich Bilodid

The V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine houses the Slavic library of the Ukrainian scientist, linguist, director of the O. O. Potebnia Institute of Linguistics of the Ukrainian SSR Academy of Sciences (1961-1981) and head of the Ukrainian Committee of Slavists (1964-1981), Academician Ivan Konstantinovich Bilodid. Like almost every scientist, he had his own library, the thematic composition of which fully reflected the scientific and creative interests of the scientist. The collection includes books on the history and modem functioning of Slavic literary languages, general linguistics, linguistic methodology and history of linguistics, lexicology and lexicography, the relationship of Slavic languages. Also in the personal library of Academician І. K. Bilodid there are many different reference and bibliographic publications, especially etymological dictionaries of some Slavic languages. Inscriptions from authors, translators, compilers and editors of the books donated by them are a valuable source for studying biographical information about the library owner.
