Meso- to micro-scale modeling of atmospheric stability effects on wind turbine wake behavior in complex terrain

  • 1. University of California, Berkeley

Description

Animations from a multi-scale simulation of wind speed and along-transect velocity for the Perdigão field campaign during stable and convective atmospheric stability conditions. The simulation uses the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) nested down to micro-scale large-eddy simulation (LES) at 10~m resolution, with a generalized actuator disk (GAD) wind turbine parameterization to the turbine wake. This animation is included as supplementary material for the manuscript "Meso- to micro-scale modeling of atmospheric stability effects on wind turbine wake behavior in complex terrain". Also included are the WRF and WPS input files.
