Representing the Knowledge Domains that Characterise Cyber-Physical Systems
Authors/Creators
Description
Cyber-physical Systems (CPS) are composite technologies, that is they are composed of many contributing technologies, representing large-scale complex and safety-critical systems. The significance of this classification is important. From the research perspective it provides a focus on the cross-cutting multi-dimensional challenges related to combining technology domains for real world interactions. This fundamentally facilitates technology integration, supports technology transfer of contributing domains, and ultimately market creation. The HiPEAC Next Computing Paradigm (NCP) expects to include interactions in the real world, where CPS research advances will boost this capacity and reciprocally, the NCP provides technology integrations and orchestration important for cyber-physical systems.
