Description
Modelling to inform on the implications of a coal phase-out in the power generation sector under international climate targets. It includes results from two modelling approaches: (1) exploration of global transition towards a low carbon generation system using a set of Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), namely TIAM-UCL, TIAM-Grantham, MUSE and GLUCOSE; and (2) regional analysis of coal phase-out and the potential for the development of a regionally-interconnected grid between India and the Gulf region by two global models, OSeMOSYS Global and PLEXOS-World.
