thusapproachesM.m m.coibensis from southern Central America insize. TODO TODO We agreewithJoneset al.(1977) in treatingcoibensisand aztecus as subspecies ofM. molossus, TODO but we recognize lambias avalid subspecies.Further study mayshow showthat thatlambi is partof a TODO TODO non-steppedcline.Thefollowingareranges(in mm)of condylobasallengthsoffoursubspeciesof M. molossus basedon adultspecimensin the AMNH. Becausethereisclearlysexualdimorphism, males and females are listed separately:M. m. aztecus (Oaxaca) 15.0- 15.8(4males), 14.4-15.2 TODO (11 females);M. m m. Iambi (Guatemala)14.6-15.4 (7males),14.2-14.8 (9females);M. m. (Panama) 13.8-14.5 (6 males),13.3-14.3 (3 females); M.m m. molossus (Colombia)15.5-16.0 males), 14.5-15.1 (5 females).
