The Milky way thin disc and its stellar populations

In this talk, we present a selection among the main results obtained with UVES in the last decades for the study of the Galactic disc populations. The presented findings ranges from the star and planet formation, to stellar structure and physics, nucleosynthesis, stellar dating and the formation and evolution of the Galactic disc. They are obtained with individual programmes and large-scale observational surveys, and they highlight the substantial contribution of UVES in this field, and its continuing active role in the near future.
