Note: Haemaphysalis novaeguineae Krijgsman and Ponto, a preoccupied name changed to Haemaphysalis meraukensis by Taylor (1944), was described from a male tick in Krijgsman and Ponto (1932) that was found to be a synonym of Haemaphysalis bancrofti, as explained in Roberts (1963a). See also Haemaphysalis anomala for its confusion with Haemaphysalis bancrofti.
