Description
3. Ixodes acutitarsus (Karsch, 1880). An Oriental and Palearctic species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla: Bovidae, while larvae and nymphs are commonly collected from Rodentia: Cricetidae, Muridae and Sciuridae. Adults and nymphs have been collected from Carnivora: Felidae; adults alone have been recovered from Artiodactyla (several families), Carnivora: Ursidae, and rarely from Passeriformes: Corvidae; larvae alone have been found on Soricomorpha: Soricidae. Ixodes acutitarsus is a frequent parasite of humans.
