Description

Fidicinoides descampsi Boulard & Martinelli, 1996 new record

Fidicinoides descampsi Boulard & Martinelli 1996: 69. (San José del Guaviare, Vaupés Department, Colombia)

REMARKS.—One of two Ecuadorian species with infuscation connecting all crossveins and proximal apical cells and dark infuscation on the ambient vein and distal apical cell veins. This species can be distinguished from F. poulaini by the rounded posterolateral margin and pointed medial opercular margin, and the longer uncal dorsal crest that does not start to broaden at the base. It can be distinguished from F. besti and F. brunnea by the more robust body, and the infuscation is continuous through the fore wing crossveins and proximal marginal veins. The infuscation in the wings distinguishes it from F. picea, F. pronoe and F. ptychodiropeda.

DISTRIBUTION.—The species has been reported previously from Colombia (Sanborn 2013) with recent records from Bolivia (Sanborn 2019b) and Peru (Sanborn 2020b).
