Type species: Acus acutulus Chen, Yang & Wilson 1989
= Acus Chen, Yang & Wilson, 1989a: 28 (type species Acus acutulus Chen, Yang & Wilson 1989) homonym of Acus Grey, 1847 (type species Buccinum maculatum Linnaeus, 1758; Mollusca: Gastropoda: Terebridae)
Etymology: Greek: νέος (new) + Acus Chen, Yang & Wilson, 1989, from Latin acus, pin, needle; the gender is masculine.
