Description

In this report, we present an analysis of the Brazilian national legislation on issues related to Human Enhancement Technologies (henceforth simply HET). The SIENNA Project defines “human enhancement as a modification that aims to improve human performance through biotechnology interventions. However, there is no established term for human enhancement in the Brazilian law. Human enhancement is not directly addressed in the national legislation. On the other hand, it is possible to find in the Brazilian legislation some specific laws and regulations that address particular issues related to human enhancement, even though the expression “human enhancement” itself, or one of its counterparts in Portuguese, does not occurs in these documents.
