Building a Visual Thinking Test for Kindergarten Children

Description

The aim of the research is to build a visual thinking test for kindergarten children, and to achieve the goal of the research, a test was prepared in light of the theory (Arnheim, 1969) in which thirteen processes were identified that together form visual thinking, the test in its initial form consisted of (78) paragraphs of (6) paragraphs for each operation, application instructions and pictures for each paragraph were prepared, and then the test was applied to an exploratory random sample to ensure the clarity of the paragraphs and instructions and to adjust the testing time.

The test items were analysed statistically after applying an individual application to a sample of (400) children aged (4-5) and (5-6) years, who were chosen by the random stratified method with unequal distribution from the six districts of Baghdad education, and the coefficients were calculated. The difficulty of the paragraphs and the distinctive strength of them and their correlation with the total degree and the sub-degree, and in light of this two items were excluded, thus the number of test items became (76) items by (5-6) paragraphs distributed over (13) processes. The validity of the test was verified by adopting the validity indicator logical and validity of the construction through some of its indicators, which are the discriminatory strength of the paragraphs and the veracity of the paragraphs, as well as the correlations between the thirteen processes, finalized with detailed instructions for the application and pictures for each paragraph to be a ready-to-use and application tool.
