Description

Subfamily Ectrichodiinae

There are 22 genera and more than 100 described species of Ectrichodiinae in the New World (Gil-Santana et al. 2015). Gil-Santana et al. (2015) provided a summary of the taxonomy of this group and a key to the genera of the New World. Because of the lack of consensus of previous authors about the validity or recognition of some genera (Dougherty 1995, Carpintero & Maldonado 1996), there is a need of a taxonomic revision and a phylogenetic analysis of all these genera (Gil-Santana et al. 2015).
