Description
Calyria telifera (Walker, 1858a) new record
Cicada telifera Walker 1858a: 26. (Venezuela)
Remarks. An abdomen of normal proportions with a less obvious dorsal ridge characterizes this species. The anterior abdominal segments and mesothorax are monochromatic. Fore wing width is less than 5.5 mm.
Distribution. The species was reported previously from Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, and Venezuela (Metcalf 1963c; Sanborn 2013; 2014).
Material examined for new record. “ PANAMA Panama / Camino del Oleoducto / mv + bl, 26 June 1997 / R. Turnbow ” one male (UGCA).
