Description

Over the past few years, Digital Scholarship has evolved as an area that Research Libraries can support, both through the use of their collections and as service providers. Meanwhile the Collections as Data movement has gained increasing traction in recent years, and with libraries now undertaking mass digitisation in-house, we are able to publish these as data sets for consumption and research. Consequently there is now much interest in the development of Digital Scholarship Services.

In March 2019 the National Library of Scotland recruited its first dedicated Digital Scholarship Librarian to build a new Digital Scholarship Service. This presentation will trace the first year of the service (March 2019 to March 2020), highlighting the challenges, successes, and lessons of setting up a Digital Scholarship Service within a National Library.
