PDS70, witnessing a young solar system analog in formation with SPHERE/ALMA

Description

PDS 70 is a young (5 Myr) star hosting a known transition disk with a large gap resolved by (sub-)millimeter observations with SMA and ALMA. Recent SPHERE XAO high-contrast images revealed the presence of a massive (7 MJup) giant exoplanet (PDS70 b) at 22 au from the star, well inside the disk gap and between the inner and outer belts (Asteroids- end Kuiper-belts analogs of our Solar System). Confirmed with other instruments (e.g. MagAO, SINFONI, MUSE), these new observations revealed ongoing accretion on PDS 70 b. In addition, recent Hα imaging with MUSE also suggested the presence of a second planet (PDS 70 c) in this system. New SPHERE observations enabled us to confirm and characterize this second planet, also recently associated with a circum-planetary disk resolved with ALMA. In this talk, through the PD70 study, we will highlight how SPHERE and ALMA synergy offers an unique and powerful opportunity to explore the properties and the architecture of young, planetary systems in formation.
