Galaxy Evolution with Hubble (and Roman) IR Spectroscopy
Description
Roman Surveys will provide Samples of Galaxies 100× larger, with Hubble-like data. Facilitate studies that require large samples and statistics: Physical properties that (co-)depend on mass, star-formation rate, surface density, gas-fraction, environment, formation history. Studies of Rare objects: Recently quenched galaxies; Mergers, in all their merger / star-formation / AGN stages. Motivation from Hubble Space Telescope Imaging and Grism Observations: When do galaxies quench? How does quenching proceed in galaxies? In different environments? How does Star-formation proceed in galaxies? What can we learn about metal production and feedback in high redshift galaxies?
