Type species — Liopus signatus LeConte, 1852 (original designation).
Diagnosis. Elytra without centrobasal crest or carinae; prothoracic tubercles placed near posterolateral angles; transverse basal sulcus of the pronotum continues laterally behind the lateral tubercles of the prothorax. Number of species currently included: 91; in Mexico and Central America: 36.
