Description
Parthenothrips dracaenae (Heeger)

This species is commonly known as the ‘palm-thrips’and is possibly native to Australia or Africa (Mound & Tree 2020), but has been introduced worldwide in greenhouses. This is the first record of the species in Brazil, but 10 specimens were examined at the USNM and recorded from Colombia on Fatsia japonica on 10.iii.1996.
NEW RECORD. Brazil. Paraná: Curitiba, on leaves of Chaemaedorea elegans, 12 females, 9.x.2006, (R.C. Monteiro) (ESALQ).
