Description
Crotalaria juncea Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 714. 1753.
"Habitat in India." RCN: 5251.
Lectotype (Fawcett & Rendle, Fl. Jamaica 4: 8. 1920): Herb. Linn. No. 895.11 (LINN).
Current name: Crotalaria juncea L. (Fabaceae: Faboideae).
Note: Fawcett & Rendle (Fl. Jamaica 4: 8. 1920) stated "Type in Herb. Linn." and as there is only a single sheet directly associated with this name, theirs is accepted as the earliest typification. Although some authors (e.g. Polhill in Milne-Redhead & Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Leguminosae 4: 950. 1971) have treated Clifford material as the type, this choice is pre-dated by that of Fawcett & Rendle.
