Description

Cordia sebestena Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 190. 1753.

"Habitat in America calidiore." RCN: 1523.

Lectotype (Miller in Cafferty & Jarvis in Taxon 53: 801. 2004): [icon] " Cariophyllus spurius inodorus, folio subrotundo scabro, flore racemoso hexapetaloide coccineo speciosissimo " in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 20, t. 164. 1725. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 5: 71 (BM-SL).

Current name: Cordia sebestena L. (Boraginaceae).
