Description
Convolvulus batatus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 154. 1753.
"Habitat in India utraque." RCN: 1229.
Lectotype (Biju in Taxon 51: 755. 2003 [2002]): Herb. Linn. No. 77.5 (S).
Current name: Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam. (Convolvulaceae).
Note: Verdcourt (in Hubbard & Milne-Redhead, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Convolvulaceae: 114. 1963) and later authors treated the post-1753 218.12 (LINN) as lectotype, but this choice was rejected by Biju in favour of original material in S.
