Basionym: Ipomoea aegyptia L. (1753).

Lectotype (Austin in Harling & Sparre, Fl. Ecuador 16: 84. 1982): Herb. Linn. No. 218.35 (LINN).

Current name: Merremia aegyptia (L.) Urb. (Convolvulaceae).
