Capparis spinosa Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 503. 1753.

"Habitat in Europae australis arenosis, ruderatis." RCN: 3817.

Lectotype (Burtt & Lewis in Kew Bull. 4: 299. 1949): Herb. Clifford: 203, Capparis 1 (BM-000628727).

Generitype of Capparis Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 160. 1929).

Current name: Capparis spinosa L. (Capparaceae).
