Description
Azalea lutea Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 150. 1753.
"Habitat in Virginia." RCN: 1196.
Replaced synonym of: Azalea nudiflora L. (1762), nom. illeg.
Lectotype (Blake in Rhodora 20: 54. 1918): Herb. Clifford: 69, Azalea 1 (BM-000558098).
Current name: Rhododendron periclymenoides (Michx.) Shinners (Ericaceae).
