Description
Averrhoa carambola Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 428. 1753.
"Habitat in India." RCN: 3333.
Lectotype (Nasir in Nasir & Ali, Fl. W. Pakistan 11: 3. 1971): Herb. Hermann 2: 6; 4: 70, No. 178 (BM-000594769).
Current name: Averrhoa carambola L. (Oxalidaceae).
Note: Lourteig (in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 67: 825. 1980) indicated Hermann material in BM (but wrongly associated with Flora Zeylanica number 178) as type, and (in Phytologia 56: 386. 1984) indicated material in both BM and Institut de France, Paris as lectotype. Neither statement restricts Nasir’s earlier choice of Hermann material in BM as type.
