Lectotype (El Hadidi & El Hadidy in Taeckholmia, Addit. Ser. 1: 37. 1981): Herb. Linn. No. 1117.20 (LINN).
Current name: Amaranthus cruentus L. (Amaranthaceae).
Note: The name and its original material were discussed by Brenan (in Watsonia 4: 269. 1961) and Sauer (in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 54: 122. 1967).
