Description

Agaricus violaceus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1173. 1753.

"Habitat ad margines Sylvarum." RCN: 8446.

Type not designated.

Original material: [icon] in Buxbaum, Pl. Minus Cognit. Cent. 4: 7, t. 11. 1733; [icon] in Micheli, Nov. Pl. Gen.: 149, t. 74, f. 1. 1729.

Current name: Cortinarius violaceus (L.: Fr.) Gray (Cortinariaceae).

Note: Brandrud (in Nordic J. Bot. 3: 587. 1983) selected Herb. Moser 74/208 (S) from Sweden (Halland) as a neotype, but original elements are in existence which, under Art. 9.11, preclude the selection of a neotype.
