Description

Adiantum serrulatum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1095. 1753.

"Habitat in Jamaica." RCN: 7927.

Lectotype (Proctor, Ferns Jamaica: 242. 1985): [icon] "Trichomanes majus nigrum, pinnis leviter dentatis, trapezii figura" in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 1: 81, t. 35, f. 2. 1707. - Voucher: Herb. Sloane 1: 75 (BM-SL).

Current name: Adiantum pulverulentum L. var. caudatum Jenman (Pteridaceae).

Note: Lellinger (in Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 23: 14. 1972) indicated unspecified and unseen material in Herb. Sloane (BM-SL) as type but this would in any case not have been seen by Linnaeus and could not be original material for the name.
