Description

Lotus arabicus Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 12, 2: 504; Mantissa Plantarum: 104. 1767.

"Habitat in Arabia. D. Forskåhl.” RCN: 5692.

Lectotype (Lassen inTurland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 474. 1997): Herb. Linn. No. 931.10 (LINN).

Current name: Lotus arabicus L. (Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: Gillett (in Milne-Redhead & Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Leguminosae 4: 1048. 1971) indicated the specimen in Herb. Linn. No. 931.11 (LINN) as the lectotype, but this cannot be regarded as relevant original material because there is nothing in Linnaeus’ annotation of the sheet to link it with L. arabicus.
