Sesamum orientale Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 634. 1753, nom. rej.
"Habitat in Zeylona, Malabaria." RCN: 4602.
Lectotype (Bruce in Turrill & Milne-Redhead, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Pedaliaceae: 19. 1953): Herb. Clifford: 318, Sesamum 1 (BM-000646183).
Generitype of Sesamum Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot. 169. 1929).
Current name: Sesamum indicum L. (Pedaliaceae).
Note: Sesamum indicum L. (1753) is conserved against S. orientale L.
