Description

Polypodium reticulatum Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 1325. 1759.

["Habitat in America."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 2: 1549 (1763). RCN: 7886.

Lectotype (Underwood in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 33: 198. 1906): [icon] " Filix latifolia, non ramosa nigris tuberculis pulverulenta" in Plumier, Descr. Pl. Amér.: 6, t. 9. 1693.

Current name: Thelypteris reticulata (L.) Proctor (Thelypteridaceae).

Note: Proctor (in Howard, Fl. Lesser Antilles 2: 309. 1977) designated 1251.25 (LINN) as type, but his choice is pre-dated by that of Underwood. Jarvis (in Symb. Bot. Upsal. 33(3): 28, f. 3. 2005) reproduces an image of Underwood’s lectotype.
