Description

Pisum arvense Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 727. 1753.

"Habitat inter Europae segetes." RCN: 5373.

Lectotype (Jonsell & Jarvis in Nordic J. Bot. 22: 78. 2002): [icon] " Pisum pulchrum folio anguloso " in Morison, Pl. Hist. Univ. 2: 47, s. 2, t. 1, f. 4. 1680.

Current name: Pisum sativum L. (Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: Westphal (Pulses Ethiopia, Taxon. Agric. Signif: 188. 1974) discussed this name and the cited synonyms but did not designate a type. Nguyên Van Thuân (in Morat, Fl. Cambodge Laos Viêtnam 23: 182. 1987) wrongly indicated 903.1 (LINN) as type - it is not original material for this name (and is, in fact, the lectotype of P. sativum).
