Description

Phlox subulata Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 152. 1753.

"Habitat in Virginia." RCN: 1212.

Lectotype (Wherry, Genus Phlox: 22. 1955): Kalm, Herb. Linn. No. 217.12 (LINN).

Current name: Phlox subulata L.. (Polemoniaceae).

Note: Specific epithet misprinted as “ulata” in the protologue. Printed correctly, with the same phrase name and species number, in Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 921 (1759).
