Lectotype (Howard, Fl. Lesser Antilles 4: 506. 1988): [icon] " Phaseolus erectus lathyroides, flore amplo, coccineo" in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 1: 183, t. 116, f. 1. 1707. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 3: 83 (BM-SL).
Current name: Macroptilium lathyroides (L.) Urb. var. lathyroides (Fabaceae: Faboideae).
