Replaced synonym of: Thea bohea L. (1762), nom. illeg.
Lectotype (Bartholomew in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 93. 1993): [icon] “Tsja” in Kaempfer, Amoen. Exot. Fasc.: 605, 606. 1712.
Generitype of Thea Linnaeus.
Current name: Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze (Theaceae).
